Did God place the Gospel in the constellations of the Zodiac?

The twelve major constellations of the Zodiac are referred to in the bible as the "Mazzaroth."  The word Zodiac comes from the Greek word Zoe, which means life, and Dia, which means through or pathway.  Zodiac literally means: "the path to life."  According to many Christian scholars, God depicted his story and his promise of salvation within the stars with the Gospel written in symbolic pictorial language manifesting the path to eternal life.
  

Psalm 19:1-4

The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.
 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through the earth, And their words to the end of the world.

The mystery of the Great Sphinx at the Giza plateau in Egypt has been the subject of many theories.  Since the Sphinx name and mythological creature comes from the ancient Greeks, the true meaning of the earlier Egyptian Sphinx would be unrelated to Greek mythology.  The Egyptian mythological possibilities represented by the figure is another area of controversial opinion.  The stone forms around the base of the Great Sphinx indicate a solar or sun cycle theme.  This has led to a theory that the Great Sphinx of ancient Egypt is a giant key or symbol, a sign for future generations to see how to unlock the secret of the stars in the Zodiac.  The Great Sphinx is the head of a woman and the body of a lion, perhaps a simple key left by the ancients to indicate how the story shown in the earth's twelve constellations begins with the Woman/Virgo and ends with Lion/Leo.

The Protector (Cancer - Crab)
The Victor (Leo - Lion)

 

The fact that the signs of the zodiac bear little resemblance the pictures associated with them should be of great interest to observers of the night-time sky.  Every ancient culture with any knowledge or tradition concerning the stars recognizes the same 12 star groups and the same names or meanings of names.  Examine the star knowledge of whatever ancients you choose (Babylonia, China, India, Persia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Central America.....), and everywhere the same constellations are identified and associated with the identical or similar meanings and names.

The only explanation for this fact is that there was one original Source who identified the constellations with their meanings before the dispersion of the peoples of the earth. God is that Source.

The 12 signs as originally given by God were a prophetic outline of the purpose of God in the history of salvation.  They are understood, however, only if they are seen in their proper order.  Since they form a circle, the problem is in knowing where to begin and finish.  A comparison of the prophecies in the heavens with the prophecies in the Bible clearly shows that the starting point is the divine promise concerning the seed of the woman (Genesis 3:15), and the ending point clearly coincides with the climax of Scripture in the triumph of the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Jesus Christ) - (Revelation 5:5).

The promise of the Seed in the first book of the Bible (Genesis) is seen in the constellation Virgo (the woman).  The promise of the triumphant Lion, seen in the last book of the Bible (Revelation), is displayed in Leo.  So the outline begins with Virgo and ends with Leo.  Confirmation of this is found in one of the very old zodiacs dating back to 2000 B.C. or before.  It is called the zodiac of Dendereh and was found on the ceiling of the portico of the temple of Esneh in Egypt.  In this zodiac there is placed between the signs of Virgo and Leo a picture of the Sphinx.  The Sphinx (with the head of a woman and the tail of a lion) confirms the starting and finishing points for the zodiac.  Many scholars think that this was in fact the main purpose of the Sphinx and thus solves its "riddle."

Deuteronomy 4:19

And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when
   you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of
   heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them,
   which the LORD your God has given to all the peoples under
   the whole heaven as a heritage.

 



 

                                                                                  1. VIRGO: (the Virgin)

Virgo is pictured as a woman with a branch in her right hand and some ears of corn in her left hand.  Virgo in Hebrew is "Bethulah" which means, "a virgin."  Jesus, also called Immanuel, was born to a virgin.  There is no other place in the history of mankind where this "supernatural" birth has happened.

Matthew 1:23

 "Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son,
    and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated,
    "God with us."

                                                                                  2. LIBRA: (the Scales)

Libra is pictured as the depiction of a set of scales.  In Hebrew, Libra is called, "Monzanaim", meaning, "the Scales, weighing."  None of us is perfect, and we have no way of "tipping the scales" in our favor.  This sign relates Christ as the Redeemer who paid the full price for our sins with his shed blood.

Matthew 20:28

"just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to
    serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

 

                                                                               3. SCORPIO (the Scorpion)

Scorpio is the figure of a huge scorpion, with its tail lifted in anger.  It appears to be trying to strike the man who is struggling with a serpent.  In Hebrew, Scorpio is called, "Akrab," which means both "the scorpion" and "wounding or conflict."  Satan "the deceiver" is the scorpion who stung us by tempting Adam to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  Or similarly portraying a mortal conflict revealing Christ as the one who was wounded for our transgressions with the bruised heel revealing His victory over Satan.

II Corinthians 5:21

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

                                                                             4. SAGITTARIUS (the Archer)

A scorpion and an archer appear together, symbolizing the battle between Satan (Scorpio the Scorpion) and Jesus Christ (Sagittarius the Archer).  The intent of Satan is to sting (and thereby kill) Christ in order to thwart God's plan of salvation.    The archer has his bow drawn toward Satan and the half-man half-horse depicts the dual nature of Jesus Christ: God and man.

I John 3:8

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

                                                                          5. CAPRICORN (the Horned Goat)

The picture of Capricorn is an animal which is part-goat and part-fish.  The goat was often used in sacrificial ceremonies to cleanse sins on the day of atonement.  Christ was, in effect, that perfect sacrifice, adopting the sins of the world.  Capricornus in Latin means "goat" and "atonement."

Hebrews 9:12

Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own
    blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having
    obtained eternal redemption.

                                                                          6. AQUARIUS (the Water-Bearer)

Aquarius is depicted as the figure of a man holding an urn in his hand with an inexhaustible stream of water pouring out of the urn.  Aquarius in Latin means, "the pourer forth of water."  Jesus is the bearer of the "living water," a spiritual well for our soul with the joy of God's Spirit poured out on His people as a result of Jesus' victory.  

John 4:13-14

Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water 
   will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will
   never thirst.  But the water that I shall give him will become
   in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."

                                                                                   7. PISCES (the Fishes)

Pisces is a constellation representing two fishes sometimes tied by their tails.  The Hebrew name for Pisces is "Dagim" which means "the fishes."  A picture of Jesus Christ "the fisher of men" telling of God's deliverance for all believers, Jew and Gentile, from the slavery of sin through the preaching of the Gospel and the life giving water outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

 Mark 1:17

Then Jesus said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men."  

                                                                                    8.  ARIES (the Ram)

The figure depicted in Aries is that of a vigorous ram or lamb.  In Hebrew, Aries is called "Taleh" and means "the Lamb."  Aries identifies the "Lamb of God."  In the Old Testament if the Law was broken, a worthy "lamb" sacrifice was presented to God.

John 1:29

   The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said,
   "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" 

                                                                                    9.  Taurus (the Bull)

Taurus is figured as a charging bull which can't be stopped or avoided.  The Taurus reminds us of Christ’s coming in judgment like a bull upon the sinful world.  In the Bible the bull is seen as a symbol of payment for sin, a payment that Jesus made.

John 5:22

For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son

                                                                                 10. GEMINI (the Twins)

Gemini pictures two figures seated side by side.  The figure on right has a harp & bow/arrows, and one on left has club.  This sign speaks of Christ’s fellowship with His people in His kingdom.  The Hebrew name for this sign is "Thaumin" which means "united."  When Israel is restored at the "closing time" of this world, the promised blessings will come upon The Bride.  The union between Christ and His Bride is the Marriage of the Lamb which is restored Israel.
